Salem Humaid
Cultural Affairs Coördinator
of the Dubai Cultural Council
Mr. Salem Humaid is a UAE national from Dubai, born in 1974. Since 2004 he is working in the Dubai Cultural Council (Government of Dubai) as Cultural Affairs Coordinator and researcher in cultural studies. He is in charge of providing the different bodies with any information required about culture in Dubai. Mr Humaid developed many ideas and strategies to stimulate cultural activities in Dubai and the UAE. Recently, he participated in writing the Dubai Strategic Plan (2007 - 2015) for the social development sector.
From 2000 to 2004, Salem Humaid worked in The Executive Council of the Government of Dubai as a researcher and editor; responsible for making studies on different topics, especially in the cultural field. Due to his involvement in initiating the Dubai Cultural Council, the Executive Council decided to transfer him to the Cultural Council because he proved to be an asset to the cultural organisation.
Furthermore, Salem Humaid is a well-known writer in the UAE. He is a columnist in the UAE press writing articles about art and culture. He holds degrees from the UK and the UAE in Anthropology and Liberal Arts.
